My Journey

Lara Wehbe, PhD

I have a dream, a dream of a united world, a world that builds rather than one that destroys.

There is so much work to be done.

It begins from within. Creating unity within requires us to look inwards, develop so much compassion, unconditional love, for all the parts within us that we judge, that we have repressed, or exiled. It starts by bringing into awareness the ways in which we abandon ourselves, and bring ourselves back into alignment. This calls for courage, openness, and vulnerability.

I know this journey intimately because I, too, have walked the path of transformation… multiple times. I had to lose everything to find myself.

In that space of uncertainty, I had to lose everything to truly understand what it means to surrender and trust in life.

In that space of uncertainty, I discovered a deeper connection, to myself, to the unknown, and to the wisdom that unfolds when we release control to what we believe is “right” for us.

I dared to confront my shadow parts, and learn to sit and hold my pain without escaping it.

It wasn’t an easy journey, yet it was necessary to step more into my light.

And for that, I bring my whole self into this work. I put my heart into every session.

Our Relationship Matters

I believe it is important to know the heart behind the work that I do... and I think it is important to know who you are working with!

Effective therapy isn’t just the techniques or credentials (but if you are keen to know about my credentials you can click here). It’s relationship between you and me. Truth, integrity, and heart are the foundation of this relationship, and I hold those values close.

I Can Help You

I don’t show up offering “quick fixes” or surface-level solutions. I show up as someone who has done the deep inner work and continues to do it every day.

I’ve learned to hold space for myself, and because of that, I can hold space for you.

I understand the pain of abandonment and the weight of feeling unsupported. I know the struggle of not fully trusting others or myself. I’ve felt the deep discomfort of living in a body that didn’t feel safe.

But I also know what it means to move from victimhood to freedom, true freedom! Freedom from the cage of our own minds. This means learning to see the challenges as an opportunity for growth and empowerment.

The Journey I’ve Walked

Prior to somatic therapy, I started my professional journey leading mathematics departments in Lebanon for thirteen years. I then moved to Glasgow for my PhD before fully stepping into the field of alternative therapies.

I loved researching the mind, but I came to terms that my path would unfold beyond the walls of academia. I was navigating the pressures of the academic system, during the pandemic, a very isolating experience while feeling emotionally overwhelmed, physically depleted with various symptoms, such as depression, anxiety, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Eczema, Endometriosis, & fibroids. My body was screaming for help, and the way I was moving through life was no longer sustainable.

Because of my childhood experiences, being overly analytical was a trauma response, an escape into the mind by dissociating from the body. It created an illusion of safety in a world that felt uncertain. But beneath my intellect was a system in constant holding, bracing, surviving.

My family and I were displaced more than seven times as we fled war, which shook my foundation of safety. Later, relational trauma and complex PTSD deepened that instability, and addictive patterns became survival strategies.

At the core of these patterns was self-abandonment and the theme of belonging, or rather, the lack of it.

Since 2012 and for a little over 10 years, I had exhausted conventional therapies that had offered very helpful insights, but insight alone did not create the changes I needed. I found myself looping in my mind and in my stories, feeling defined by diagnosis rather than understood through the lens of survival and resilience.

This is when I came across Neo Emotional Release in 2021 - a new emotion-centric approach to somatic therapy that works with the body’s stored emotional tension to encourage healing from within. It addresses deeply held emotional blocks and their root causes in a safe, supportive space.

I cultivated embodied safety, not as a concept but as a lived nervous system experience. Learning to regulate my system expanded my capacity to feel rather than escape, and I began to recognise the wisdom within my emotions I once avoided, especially loneliness, grief, and helplessness. Through somatic work, including healing my relationship with my parents and intergenerational patterns, I learnt to hold the parts of myself I had exiled and stay grounded in the changes I desired. I stopped compromising my authenticity to belong. I stopped self-abandoning. I learnt that boundaries aren’t walls, and that I can choose myself without guilt.

As my internal sense of safety stabilised, my symptoms and dis-eases gradually healed.

I Bridge Many Worlds

Through years of self-discovery, I realised that true healing requires both. I learned that the mind alone cannot solve the problems of the mind.

I have developed a unique approach to somatic therapy by blending various mind-and-body-based modalities.

The results I see within the hundreds of clients I have helped across my 3 years of practice have been transformational. My aim is to bring people back to their innate healing power, so they leave with the tools and confidence to navigate their own lives with sovereignty

Working with the body’s wisdom was the missing piece.

The Gift of Somatics

Somatic therapy, combined with the other modalities I work with, allowed me to reconnect with the intuitive part of myself I had long silenced. The more I leaned into my emotional experiences, the more my life began to transform in indescribable ways.

Looking back, I’ve always been a highly sensitive person, deeply intuitive, but I was taught to distrust myself. I was told I was “too sensitive” or “too much”, so I came to believe it and began relying on other people’s opinions over my own knowing. My mind became a refuge, and my heart felt unsafe.

The world of somatics transformed my perspective. It gave me the tools to unlearn conditioned beliefs, reconnect with my intuition, and strengthen my discernment.

The world of somatics has been the greatest gift in reclaiming this connection to myself and the world around me.

“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff.

We are a way for the universe to know itself.”

Carl Sagan

You Don’t Have to Do it Alone!

This work isn’t for the faint of heart. Healing is messy, cathartic, but deeply transformative. The rewards are immense: reclaiming your heart as your guide and your intuition as your greatest strength. If I could do it, so can you!

The path wasn’t easy, and for a long time, I tried to navigate it alone. But you don’t have to do it alone!

A Purposeful Path: My Dharma

The transformation I have experienced shaped my purpose.

Now, I help people to create lasting changes in their lives, and move from a place of victimhood, survival, and self-abandonment to one of freedom, empowerment, and alignment.

Through a blend of integrative, body-based modalities, I merge psychology, and holistic practices into a grounded approach.

A return home to Self and to our Interconnectedness with life.
