My Story

Lara Wehbe, PhD

I’m a researcher of the human condition and a somatic therapist with a dream rooted in unity — unity in our consciousness and in a world often divided.

It begins from within. Creating unity within requires us to shatter our rigid perception of right and wrong, break free from internalised normative beliefs, and develop more compassion for ourselves and others. It is a process of unravelling the layers that keep us disconnected, one that calls for courage, openness, and vulnerability.

I know this journey intimately because I, too, have walked the path of transformation… multiple times. I had to lose everything to find myself.

In that space of uncertainty, I had to lose everything to truly understand what it means to surrender and trust in life. In that space of uncertainty, I discovered a deeper connection—to myself, to the unknown, and to the wisdom that unfolds when we release control and let go of our attachments to what we believe is “right” for us.

I dared to confront my shadow parts—the emotions I suppressed, the stories I buried, and the parts I exiled. It wasn’t an easy journey, yet it was necessary to fully step into my light.

As a scientist, a certified trauma-informed therapist, and a woman who has traversed the depths of her own existence, I bring my whole self into this work. I put my heart into every session because I know what it’s like to feel stuck, unsupported, and disconnected from your own truth.

Our Relationship Matters

I believe it is important to know the heart behind the work that I do... and I think it is important to know who you are working with!

The truth is, effective therapy isn’t just about techniques or credentials (but if you are keen to know about my credentials you can click here) — it’s about the relationship between you and me. Authenticity and integrity are the foundation of this relationship, and I hold those values close.

I Can Help You

I don’t show up offering “quick fixes” or surface-level solutions. That’s not how true healing happens. I show up as someone who has done the deep inner work and continues to do it every day.

I’ve learned to hold space for myself, and because of that, I can hold space for you.

I understand the pain of abandonment and the weight of feeling unsupported. I know the struggle of not fully trusting others—or myself. I’ve felt the deep discomfort of living in a body that didn’t feel safe.

But I also know what it means to move from victimhood to freedom, true freedom! This means learning to see the challenges as an opportunity for growth and empowerment.

The Journey I’ve Walked

My healing journey began in 2014, as I went through an existential crisis. I was dealing with many challenges from complex PTSD and years of unresolved trauma.

When we experience trauma, especially in early life, our nervous system shifts into survival mode. The brain, particularly the prefrontal cortex (responsible for logic and reasoning) and the limbic system (emotions and memories), adapts to protect us. One common survival strategy is to intellectualise or over-analyse our experiences as a way to maintain a sense of control.

Years down the line, I immersed myself in academia, and completed my PhD in psychology.

My highly analytical nature, though useful, wasn’t leading me to the transformation I needed. There was still a void— I realised something significant was missing...

I bridge the mind and the heart, guiding people towards their inner most true self.

I Bridge Many Worlds

It wasn’t until I discovered the world of somatics that everything in my life began to shift.

My deep passion for sound healing led me to become a sound therapist, offering classes in my studio. Drawn to somatic movement, I also hosted ecstatic dance sessions in Glasgow. As I explored the connection between emotions and the body, my work evolved into emotional release therapy. After years of suppressing my own emotions, I felt a strong calling to understand and work with them—both for myself and others.

For a while, the various worlds I inhabited—science and holistic healing—felt disconnected.

But through years of self-discovery, I realised that true healing requires both. I learned that the mind alone cannot solve the problems of the mind.

Working with the body’s wisdom was the missing piece.

The Gift of Somatics

Somatic therapy, combined with the other modalities I work with, allowed me to reconnect with the intuitive part of myself I had long silenced. The more I leaned into my emotional experiences, the more my life began to transform in indescribable ways.

Looking back, I’ve always been a highly sensitive person, deeply intuitive, but I was taught to distrust myself. I was told I was “too sensitive” or “too much”, so I came to believe it and began relying on other people’s opinions over my own knowing. My mind became a refuge, and my heart felt unsafe.

The world of somatics transformed my perspective. It gave me the tools to unlearn conditioned beliefs, reconnect with my intuition, and strengthen my discernment.

The world of somatics has been the greatest gift in reclaiming this connection to myself and the world around me.

“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff.

We are a way for the universe to know itself.”

Carl Sagan

You Don’t Have to Do it Alone!

This work isn’t for the faint of heart. Healing is messy, cathartic, but deeply transformative. The rewards are immense: reclaiming your heart as your guide and your intuition as your greatest strength. If I could do it, so can you!

The path wasn’t easy, and for a long time, I tried to navigate it alone. But you don’t have to do it alone!

A Purposeful Path: My Dharma

Today, my purpose is clear: to support people navigate their own paths of inner exploration and growth, helping them to move from a place of victimhood and survival to one of freedom & empowerment.

I merge science, psychology, and holistic practices into a grounded approach—transcending ordinary perceptions to experience a deeper connection to yourself and the world.

Such approach leads us back to a universal truth: our interconnectedness, commonly revealed through experiences of altered states of consciousness.
